- If you have a heart condition or respiratory issues, consider not snorkeling—or consult your doctor first.
- Shortness of breath is a danger sign. Remove your mask, roll onto your back, signal for help, and get out of the water immediately.
- Don't exercise or exert yourself while breathing through a snorkel.
- Swim with a buddy. Check your location every 30 seconds.
